That's amazing--you put a lot in that shot. I couldn't believe the yellow clouds at first, so I had to look at your camera data, then I remembered--New Mexico isn't known as "The Land of Enchantment" for nothing!
the Rockies invited me to join, and they won't even accept my work. Try #Natures-Glorey (that is the spelling they use) #Nature-Snaps or #Sky-Club. #Scapes-Club, too. I will help you wish for a new camera.
Okay--look on a search engine for a photo imaging program called GIMP. It is free to download, but make sure you get the users manual, too, because it is kind of hard to learn, but you can use curves for color adjustment, and that isn't too hard, just make sure you keep a copy of your original before you start experimenting with it. The more you use it, the easier it becomes.
I joined the AF during the Viet Nam era, but never got assigned in that theater. I was in Germany for three years, before it united. I worked in telecommunications, both in maintenance and operations.
Orey is absolutely beautiful. I don't have the transportation to get there right now, otherwise I would be there as often as I can!
Yes, learn a little at a time, you will surprise yourself! You already have a very good eye for composition--I am very impressed by your natural ability. I think you will be a very good photographer!
